Foot and ankle joint: Don’t let them step on your feet

They contain a quarter of all bones in the human body – 28 in total, plus 114 ligaments and 20 different muscles. They are complex wonders that carry us throughout our lives – our feet! Sick feet not only hinder us directly in our movement, they can also cause pain in all other joint areas, such as the knees, hips and back. The feet carry us through life and are often affected by complaints. In today’s world, there are numerous damaging influences to which our feet are exposed on a daily basis. Even constant walking – even in well-made shoes – already has a damaging component, as the natural rolling behaviour of the foot is disturbed.

The following symptoms are more common in daily practice:

  • hallux valgus
  • hallux rigidus
  • hammer toe or claw toe
  • Achilles’ tendon problems
  • heel spur or plantar fasciitis
  • ligament injuries or ankle instabilities
  • Morton neurinoma
  • rheumatological diseases
  • ankle joint arthrosis

This list represents only a selection of diseases of the foot and ankle. In case of pain and complaints, we recommend that you have a personal consultation with one of our specialists. We would be happy to arrange an appointment with you.
